Mike Holcomb Tests a Live Process on OT Cyber Tuesday

Episode fifteen tours the platform and then works through it in depth, exercising the environment until the change reaches the process behind it.

Mike Holcomb — OT CT episode 15, Learning How to Attack OT/ICS with Labshock

January 27, 2026Mike Holcomb has devoted an episode of OT Cyber Tuesday to Labshock, taking the platform from a high-level tour into hands-on testing against the environment itself.

The session covers what the environment contains — HMI, PLC, firewall and security tooling among them — and then works through how to exercise it so that the effect reaches the process, rather than stopping at the network.

That distinction is the one the platform exists for. Something that lands on a device is a security finding. Something that changes what the plant is doing is an operational event, and the difference between them is only visible when there is a process running underneath.

Holcomb has been a recurring route by which Labshock reaches practitioners. He supported the DEF CON sessions in the ICS Village, and Daniel Lowrie credits a mention on a Simply Cyber panel as how the platform reached him.
