Labshock Releases Thunderwatch: PLC Programming From Scan Cycle to Live Memory

The zone teaches control logic itself — scan cycle, ladder logic, structured text and live memory — on the grounds that detection built without it sees traffic but misses meaning.

June 24, 2026Labshock has opened Thunderwatch, a PLC programming zone inside World of Labshock, extending the platform from network-centric analysis into industrial control logic.

The zone introduces a full programming path built on automation fundamentals: the automation stack, the PLC scan cycle, industrial data flow, ladder logic, structured text, PLC memory and variables, HMI tags and bindings, timers and counters, function block architecture, program organization units, and live memory changes on a running controller.

Every topic is bound to a lab rather than a document. Users open a real project in an Engineering Workstation, trace an HMI command into PLC memory, build a variable map, write and deploy logic to a runtime, and watch the output move on the process. The Utility Works II lab anchors the zone with an expanded boiler room where fixed logic has been replaced by timers, memory bits and process states.

The security argument behind the zone is the control chain: HMI request, PLC memory, logic execution, output command, process feedback, operator visibility. A packet can be valid, a command authorised and a value correctly formatted while the process impact remains unsafe.

Thunderwatch arrived in v2.3, and the control-logic grounding it gives is what the substation and detection zones assume.
