Kevin Kumpf Demonstrates Kasm Community Edition, With Labshock Built In

September 16, 2026 — Kevin Kumpf, Chief OT/ICS Strategist, demonstrated Kasm Community Edition at the CYBR.SEC.Events show, with Labshock built into it as an OT security training platform.

Kasm Community Edition is a browser-delivered workspace platform: a way to give somebody a full desktop session, running whatever the environment behind it contains, without installing anything locally. Integrated into it, Labshock arrives as a complete industrial environment a room can reach in a browser tab, rather than something each participant builds and maintains on their own machine.

SteelDome ran underneath it. Where Kasm is the access layer a person actually sees, SteelDome is the infrastructure layer that runs the workload — the piece that makes the environment portable across whatever hardware happens to be available at a show floor rather than tied to one fixed rack. The two together are how the demonstration got from a laptop under a table to a working plant on screen.

Kumpf showed the combination to two audiences at CYBR.SEC.CON: the educational community, and businesses evaluating it for internal training. Both groups have the same problem underneath — putting people in front of a real industrial system without buying one per learner — and the integration answers it the same way for either.
